Eye Candy Blog stalking Sunday

Lately I've had what some would say a complete mental craft brain block. Is there such a thing? In my world there is. Wasn't even in the mood. That is until I saw this lovely thing. She's now all mine and is set up in my living room (I even put it together myself while my brother and the mister watched and delegated. Men!-By the way, I completed it without a bad word or scratch.) Props to Leah! Finally got rid of the ol entertainment center and things are actually starting to look like I care about my living room. This got me all excited to start doing cute stuff to it and filling up the shelves. Let the crafting begin again. Pure therapy bliss...And who said $99 couldn't buy happiness. I like to sit on my couch and stare at it...
Ahem, ok this ALSO got me in the mood to blog stalk. Of course I'll share my finds. Enjoy. Comment. GIVE ME SOMETHING PEOPLE!

Ok really? How adorable can a scripture case possibly be? I want. Someone make me this.

In the process of changing the color scheme of my living room. My next project are some pillows. Regardless of those who think pillows are useless, I plan on making them anyway. Aren't they the thing now a days? I cannot wait. Green. Black. Tan. And white. Those are the colors. Now I just need to find the perfect fabric....until then here's some cute pillows to look at.

Now Im not sure why, but I want to make this. It'd be easy. I love you. Mushy mushy love stuff...my fave...

I have been on a hunt for weeks. Literally weeks. Stalking the DI and KSL for a chunky frame I can put our temple picture in. NO such luck. Any kind person wants to donate?

Last but not least....nothing new to the craft world. But I want one. Where to get it and put it...?

3 little blankets

Making blankets is one of my favorite things to do. My daughter is super attached to her blankets, so giving/sharing  them with the new baby is not an option. Finding fabric that is both cute and gender neutral is harder than you think. I did the best I could.

The first blanket I made the corners round and added rick rack to the edges. It was my first time sewing rick rack to a blanket, and surprisingly it turned out really good!

I also made 2 Self-binding receiving blankets. These are SO easy to make until you get to the corners. The first time I ever made one of these blankets I had someone there helping me so my corners turned out awesome. This time doing them on my own they were just ok. I guess I need to make more so I can practice. ;)

Dishwasher Magnet

Ok so I have a "sanitizing" dishwasher, and in my case the dishes have to be at least 80% clean when they go in or everything comes out dirty. Now don't get me wrong I love the fact that I have one, just wish it worked better.

Unless I'm home to tell Aaron or Lindzie ( my 7 yr old) if the dishwasher has been run they just wont touch it. So I decided to make a sign to help them when I'm not home ( I'm hoping this will result in my family helping with THIS chore more).

So I went to Roberts on 2 coupon Tuesday and got some scrapbook paper, I cut a piece of paper that is 4" x 5" this will be the back and we will stick everything on it. I then cut a piece of green paper 2" x 5" and did the same with the black, glue those onto the piece of paper you are using as the back, ( I did it this way so it would be thicker and could stand up to abuse from the boys).

I used Mandy's Cricut and cut out my words, "dirty" in green and "clean" in black then used a glue stick to mount it on the opposite color.

I took my little sign to JMart (a copy and printing shop, that does a tone of cool stuff) and had it laminated.

When I got it home I took a sticky magnet strip, cut it in half and stuck one piece to the top and the other to the bottom. Now its done and I love it!

Oreo Icecream Dessert

This is my new favorite dessert. I found the recipe online and tweaked it a little bit.

2 rows of Oreos
(I found that the cool mint oreos are the best)
1/4 cup melted butter

NOW:
smash Oreos in a zip lock bag and pour on bottom of 9x13 pan. Drizzle butter on top and mix with a fork

2 boxes of ice cream sandwiches
NEXT:
layer your ice cream sandwiches on top of Oreos
(I like to let them soften a little bit then squish ( yes, squish) them down until the ice-cream comes out and it fills in the holes so you cant see the Oreo layer...does this make sense?)

1 jar of hershey's hot fudge

Spread the hot fudge on top and stick in freezer for about 20 min
(melt in it microwave a few seconds to soften it a tiny bit but don't let it get hot or it'll melt the ice-cream!)

1 container of cool whip
Spread cool whip on top and layer with extra oreo crumbs
I drizzled the extra hot fudge over the whole thing with a fork to make it look nice
THEN: PUT IT BACK IN THE FREEZER CAUSE ITS BETTER FROZEN!

ENJOY!

Name Blocks

Why it has taken me 2 weeks to do this post I have no clue. These were done on our one of many girls crafts night with the besties. (One of the perks to having such talented friends is that they bring the stuff you don't have ex: a Cricut Thanks guys...I mean ladies!) Oh yes, and all paper was found at Roberts on double coupon Tuesday! Roberts Crafts

My favorite letter out of the bunch. The "i". knob was a few cents at the local antique store (can be found at any dept store though) Ribbon I already had and my favorite part. The key. I'm obsessed with keys. Got it at a dollar store in the town next to ours. Yup. $1. it came with key earing too! Score! I kept them and wear them

Bandanna Valentine Dress

I have been wanting to make one of these bandanna dresses since I first saw them on a blog I follow. You can find the tutorial HERE. It really only does take about 15 minutes too! I also wanted my little girl to have something cute to wear for Valentines day. Needless to say, I was excited when I found these bandannas for a dollar each at Walmart!

(sorry about the pictures. I have been meaning to take some of her in this dress all day, but haven't had the chance until it was dark and late.)

Day 4 of Valetines

Today was nothing super special as far as crafting goes. Although I do have to show you my new favorite toy. Nothing new to most of you I'm sure. Ta da!

Have I told you how much I am in love with this product? Now if I only I had a Cricut to really take advantage of it... (hmmmm Harmony or Tesha....???) I used the brown paper featured on the front , cut it to size, peel and stick and wham! Nothing else. No messy glue stick. No tape. Nothing. ( By the way the paper I got from Hobby Lobby 50% off! Originally 5.99 and got it for $3)  The rest I cut by hand and wrote it today instead of typing it up. Oh! and the hearts are rub-ons- (that I got at a local super awesome dollar store) Nothing SUPER crafty by any means, but the Mister sure loves food. And what better way to say "I love you" than a big snickers candy bar?

(Did I mention that I only got another smiley face response?  hmmmm this better not be in vain....)

Happy Crafting!

Picture Frame

Ok, so I wasn't going to post this craft because frames are so versatile and this one wasn't going to be that special. However, I was in a serious pickle today. I was with Leah and Tesha with all my mobile crafting supplies and could not produce one little thing! Sad I know, but it happened. I need to let you know I tried all day. So finally I decide to take this simple wood frame that I got from the dollar store and paint it a cream color. When I was done with that, and it just wasn't logical to add another coat of paint, I sat there staring and wondering why I couldn't do more  I looked around the room and my eyes fell upon Mandy's Cricut with all her fun little cartridges, it was like magic, my mind started racing so fast with ideas that I couldn't understand myself. This is what I ended up with. The picture that is going in it is my 7 yr old's class picture ( she thinks she needs it on her wall) and I just felt like it gave way too much info for me to show the frame with it inside.

Day 3 of Valentines

Yes. Day 3. I missed day one. Ooops! But at least I'm doing it right? I got these cute V-day baggies (resealable might I add) from the dollar store. I was half tempted to just give The Mister the whole bag of hugs and kisses bag now that just wouldn't be fair to me right? For all the hard work I'm putting into this? I deserve a treat. The cute font I downloaded off of a site and it's called Fab 50's (the font is)or something like that and the quote is off google with a little tweak to it for my liking. ah ha! Just got a text that only said this "=)" only the graphic smiley. You know what I'm talking about. That's how my hubby rolls. I look forward to everyday I can do a little Valentines for him.Stay tuned!

Happy Crafting!

7 days of Valentines

One day just isn't enough to tell the Mister how much I love him. I love to do things that are unique and thoughtful. Hello! I'm a girl. We tend to like mushy lovey dovey crap stuff. We set ourselves a $10 limit on V-day gifts this year. Now what in the world could I do for ten bucks? I came up with the genius idea of 7 days of Valentines. Kind of like 12 days of Christmas, but cuter of course. I totally missed the first day, but this is what I came up with for this morning. "I love everything you "Dew" for me. How lucky I am to have such a handy man around the house!"

Now I didn't think I'd get a thank you all morning, but about about 10 min ago I got a text saying "Thanks for the Dew" Totally worth it! I can't wait to give him something tomorrow. Stay tuned!
Happy Crafting!

Crochet Flower Hair Clip

I love to crochet, it is relaxing and I am able to do it while watching my kids play or watching TV.

   Lets Get Started!

This is a two tone flower that I did with Lily Sugar'n Cream 100% cotton yarn in white and hot pink, I used a size G hook. I like this yarn for hair clips because it is soft, bright, and lays flat.

These are the abbreviations Ch = Chain, sl st = slip stitch, dc = double crochet.
You start with white, this will be the middle of the flower.  Ch 5 join this into a ring with a sl st at the first chain.

On the second round ch 3, (I count this as the first dc) then work 9 dc in the ring for a total of 10. Join w/ sl st in the top of ch.

This is where we are going to change colors, make a loop with your pink and stick it into the white loop, pull the white tight and pull the pink until it is the right size to keep going ( you can cut the white off, leave a tail about 2 to 3 in long) tie a small knott with the tail of the white and pink.   Round 3 we are going to start with ch 2, 3 dc in the next st, ch 2 and sl st in the next st. repeat this until you have five pettles then fasten off sew the tails into the flower. You can embellish your flower with a cute button or bling.
I found the basic pattern for this here .
Hot glue flower to hair clip and your done.  P.S. Wait for the hot glue to dry before you try it on.

Decorated Onesies

We decided to have our 3rd baby be a surprise. Since, we have one boy and one girl we have things for either. This has been both hard and fun. I must admit though it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. I really don't mind unless I see something super cute at the store that I want to buy that is gender specific. In less than 5 weeks this baby will be here. I wanted a fun way to tell everyone if it is a boy or girl. The tricky part is my husband won't let me buy anything unless its gender neutral. No worries though, I came up with a solution!
I bought some plain onesies and had some chipboard cut outs that I traced onto fabric and felt to make the boy onesie. Then, I hand stitched it on. If I ever make one of these again I will use heat and bond or something to hold it on while I stitch. Maybe it will look straight then. :)

I had a hard time choosing what to do for the girl one. I saw a headband that someone made with singed felt flowers and decided to try it out. I really like the way it turned out!

Boy or girl I am SO excited for this baby to be here!

Magnetic Picture Frames

YAY! Im the first one! I should get a prize for being the first one... whose going to give me something? No one? Ok, how about I show you my latest?

So as I finished my project for the day and went to go take a picture so that I could post it I realized my camera battery was dead. Ok, fine, Ill go get the other battery. Guess what? Murphy's Law, that one is dead too. I guess my phone camera one will do.
As I was wandering the dollar store yesterday trying to find a treat for the kids back at home, I walked past the "Kitchen Isle". Now I usually dont but for some reason I did and something caught my eye. This.

Ok. It wasnt these EXACT covers but similar to it. A small one and a big one. For $1. Now you're speaking my language!
With a little paper, ribbon, modge podge, and magnets they have now turned into this....

Getting to know the Authors...Tesha

I am a 25 yr old mother of two wonderful little boys. Trace who just turned 4 in December and Trezdon who turned two in September. They are my whole world! But I couldn't have them without my adorable husband Tim. Together we just celebrated our 5th anniversary on Jan 10th. It has been a wonderful and challenging 5yrs that I wouldn't trade for anything. For now I am a stay at home mom. It has been such a blessing to be able to stay home but I am looking forward to developing a career I will be going back to school in the fall and I am very excited for it. Crafting is a big hobby in my life right now and it has gotten even better now doing them with my best friends. These girls are amazing and they always help me decide what will looks best. I am excited to share along side them my "piles of crafts" for all to enjoy and hopefully want to copy. Well that is a small bit of info about me. (excuse the out dated picture we need up dates and are getting them soon and will replace this one)

Getting to know the authors...Harmony

I am a stay at home mom to 2, almost 3  adorable children! I have a 6 year old named Kelton, a 2 year old named Kynley, and a surprise that will be here March 7th! Besides being a mom, I am also a wife to a pretty amazing guy named Anthony. He works hard so that I can support my craft addiction....I mean stay home with the kids. :)  I am SO excited to start this new craft blog with 3 of my best friends! I could (and do some days) spend hours looking at craft blogs. My favorite things to make are things for my kids or decorations for my house. We just bought a brand new house that I am working on decorating. Plus, once I know what this baby is I will have a whole nursery to do. I can't wait to show you my pile of crafts!
